Notaro Hotels Limited faced several significant challenges when they approached us for assistance.
Their primary requirement was to provide WiFi coverage for all 31 cottages situated around a lake in a remote Somerset village. They also sought to leverage a recently installed 1Gbps Leased Line, initially intended for their main offices, to cover the cottages and an onsite children's Day Nursery. Each cottage had individual broadband connections, which were costly and under-utilised for much of the year. In addition to guest WiFi, they needed seamless connectivity for cleaners and site personnel to facilitate issue reporting and enhance safety measures.
Furthermore, integrating the existing CCTV system across the entire site and improving its reliability back to the office buildings posed another challenge. The site's construction and layout necessitated deploying individual WiFi access points to each cottage, with wireless links between blocks due to limited ground ducts. Compounding these issues, the current CCTV system was malfunctioning and improperly configured, requiring rectification alongside the WiFi deployment.

Reliable guest WiFi across a remote site
After conducting a thorough site survey, we implemented a solution centred around Point-to-Point (PTP) and Point-to-Multipoint (PTMP) wireless systems using cutting-edge equipment from Ubiquiti Networks.
To ensure robust coverage and high performance, we deployed Unifi WiFi 6 access points throughout Notaro Hotels Limited’s site. Leveraging our expertise in PTP/PTMP systems and network/WiFi configurations, we designed a secure solution that provided personalised SSIDs and portals for seamless user experience in all 31 cottages.
In addition, to enhancing guest WiFi, we upgraded the internet connection for the onsite Children’s Nursery from a few Mbps to 300Mbps, enabling the use of advanced learning and care systems. We successfully integrated the existing CCTV system onto the new network infrastructure, establishing a secure backbone across the entire site and assuming responsibility for ongoing support and maintenance.
